Chukka Cocktail™

The Chukka Cocktail™ was designed having spent many years at polo where the only real all day summer drink is Pimm’s. Whilst Pimm’s is great, we feel that it can be overly sweet which does not fit with the modern discerning drinker.

Therefore, we felt that there was a real opportunity to create an inherently British summertime cocktail fashioned around old style lemonade. This drink should be of wide appeal as although the alcohol content is relatively high, the alcohol is not overpowering owing to the smoothness of British Polo Gin Botanical.

We feel that the Chukka Cocktail™ works so well because we directly wrote the recipe for the gin, with the end cocktail in mind, as opposed to creating a cocktail around an existing spirit. 

To create the ultimate post polo match refresher using our organic botanical gin follow the below recipe:

Ingredients:
  1. x 50ml BPG Botanical
  2. x 50ml fresh Lemon Juice
  3. x 100ml Soda Water
  4. x 25ml Gomme Syrup
  5. x1 handful of ice
  6. x1 sprig of mint
  7. x1 strawberry
Recipe:
  • Add 50 ml of British Polo Gin Botanical to a shaker
  • Add 50 ml of freshly squeezed lemon juice to shaker
  • Add 25 ml of gomme syrup to shaker
  • Add three fresh mint leaves
      SHAKE
      • Pour through strainer into glass over cubed ice
      • Top up with roughly 100ml of soda water
      • Garnish with fresh mint and strawberries
        NB – If you are hosting a party and would like to serve the Chukka Cocktail, you can easily round up the above measurements and recreate in a glass jug and/or demijohn

        ESPRESSO GINTINI™

        Espresso Gintini
        Created with a ginny twist on the iconic Espresso Martini, this winning cocktail is guaranteed to get your polo party started. With our rich 100% organic gin, British Polo Botanical Gin, at it’s heart, we have been able to maintain a strong juniper finish that cuts through the coffee elements of the Espresso Gintini™. 

        This has enabled us to do away with Coffee Liqueur, which is traditionally added to an Espresso Martini to add flavour as Vodka is of course flavourless.

        Ingredients:
        50ml BPG Botanical
        50ml fresh espresso
        50ml sugar syrup 
        3 coffee beans and/or cocoa powder to garnish

        Recipe:

        • • Add the BPG Botanical, fresh espresso and sugar syrup to cocktail shaker 
        • • Add 4 to 5 cubes of ice
        • • Shake vociferously until shaker is ice cold in your hands
        • • Pour from a low to high height in to a coupe/martini glass to create a lovely frothy head
        • • Garnish with x3 coffee beans and/or cocoa powder

        THE PERFECT BRITISH POLO G&T

        When we created our signature British Polo Botanical Gin we had the winning garnish combination of fresh basil and English sun ripened strawberries in mind. The strawberry brings out the fresh summer botanical of elderflower & mint whilst the basil brings out crisp notes of cinnamon & vanilla; resulting in a wonderful summer thirst quencher. 

        To create the perfect British Polo G&T follow the below:

        Ingredients:
        50ml British Polo Botanical Gin 
        100ml Fever Tree Regular Tonic Water
        2 Strawberries
        1 Sprig of Basil;
        Recipe:
        • Pour 50 ml of British Polo Gin Botanical over cubed ice in to high ball glass
        • Pour 100 ml of premium tonic water down the neck of a stirring spoon over the ice and into the British Polo Gin Botanical
        • Garnish with fresh basil leaves and thickly sliced strawberries

        SUMPTUOUS SLOEGASM

        British Polo Sloe Gin works beautifully in all manner of cocktails as it has a far lower syrup content that home made sloe gins and indeed its commercial counterparts. 

        This twinned with the sumptuous additions of cloves, cinnamon and green anise means that this sloe gin is a fantastic cocktail component. One of our favourite ways to enjoy this lovely sloe gin in a sumptuous Sloegasm, a true British cocktail classic.

        Ingredients:
        25ml BPG Sloe
        100ml Champagne or Prosecco 

        Recipe:
        • Add BPG Hedgerow Foraged Sloe to champagne coupe
        • Top up with chilled champagne or prosecco
        • Enjoy!

        BURGHLEY PLUM™

        In the long summer of 2019 we found ourselves running the bar at the fabulous Burghley Boutique which runs for the duration of Burghley Horse Trials. Burghley Boutique is set within the layers of orchard within the beautiful walled gardens of Burghley House and being late Summer, the trellised plum trees were burgeoning with Victoria Plums. 

        At British Polo Gin we are always looking for ways to work with nature, so after much experimentation, the Burghley Plum was born. 

        Ingredients:

        50ml BPG Classic 100% Organic London Dry Gin
        100ml Fever Tree Aromatic Tonic
        3 plums 
        25ml gomme syrup
        1 strawberry
        Handful of ice

        Recipe:

        • Loosely chop plums
        • Place plums in the bottom of glass and add gomme syrup
        • Muddle together for a minute
        • Place ice in separate glass
        • Pour freshly made plum syrup over the ice
        • Add BPG Classic 100% Organic London Dry Gin
        • Pour in Fever Tree Aromatic Tonic, ideally down a bar spoon
        • Garnish with strawberries


        Rumger Sling:

        High Goal Cocktail - made with British Polo Strawberry & Rose Gin
        With core notes of vanilla, orange, cinnamon and ginger, our 100% organic and award winning Double Spiced Rum delivers a fantastically festive punch when mixed with Fever Tree Ginger Ale. If you feel like really spicing things up, why not switch the ginger ale for ginger beer; a sure fire way to warm the cockles!

        Ingredients:

        50ml British Polo Double Spiced Rum
        150ml Fever Tree Ginger Ale
        Ice
        Lime wedge 

        • Fill high ball tumbler or whisky glass with (the heavier the better) with ice
        • Pour the rum over the ice
        • Top up with mixer
        • Garnish with lime wedge 
        • Enjoy/try not to drink the whole bottle 

        THE HIGH GOAL ™:

        High Goal Cocktail - made with British Polo Strawberry & Rose Gin
        This cocktail was created to celebrate the launch of British Polo Strawberry & Rose Gin in June 2019 and our first year of running the Clubhouse Bar at the prestigious Cirencester Park Polo Club. The High Goal Cocktail™ delivers a true taste of a British Summer, featuring Strawberries, Rose & Elderflower, and is great to be enjoyed pitch side at your favourite polo destination.

        Ingredients:
        2 Summer Strawberries
        1 Lime
        1 teaspoon of caster sugar
        50ml BPG Strawberry & Rose 
        100ml Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic

        Recipe:
        •  Muddle x1 strawberry and a quarter of a lime with teaspoon of sugar to create a syrup
        • Add 4 to 5 cubes of ice
        • Add 50ml of BPG Strawberry & Rose
        • Add 100ml Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic
        • Garnish with a halved strawberry
        NB – If you are hosting a party and would like to serve The High Goal Cocktail™, you can easily round up the above measurements and recreate in a glass jug and/or demijohn

        Millionaire Cocktail

        Another firm favourite at British Polo HQ is the wonderfully boozy Millionaire Cocktail. Inspired by heady days of prohibition, the Millionaire is popping with flavour and showcases our limited edition exceptionally well. We feel that the Millionaire is the perfect welcome drink to serve at your next dinner party.

        To create the Millionaire follow the below:
        • Add 25 ml of British Polo Sloe Gin to a shaker
        • Add 25 ml of dark rum to shaker
        • Add 25 ml of apricot brandy to the shaker
        • Add a squeeze of lime to shaker
        • Add a squirt of grenadine to shaker
        • Add ice to shaker
        SHAKE
        • Pour through a strainer into glass
        • Rub lime wedge around edge of glass and fix to side of glass
        • Garnish with strawberry
